GB RACING

Team Members:
Grant Baylis, driver and mechanic, sponsor!
Brenda Baylis, co-pilot,
Pit crew: Shane Bourel, Randy Polazjar, Pro Pit.

GB Racing was started with a bush buggy in 1998. It was not much of a car and did not do very well. In the late summer of 1999 we bought a Raceco desert car from San Diego California. This car proved to be very fast and reliable with a newly installed rotary engine.

In the 2000 race season, GB Racing won 8 out of 12 WORRA short course races in Bellingham, Washington and subsequently won the championship for Sportsman novice. After a busy winter preparing the car, 2001 turned out to be another stellar year winning 4 out of 6 races in the WORRA short course series. And not to mention the championship in vet class for the year. GB Racing also attended 2 desert races, a 300 miler in Lovelock, Nevada and a 160 miler in Wendover, Utah. The hospitality and atmosphere of the VORRA members, along with the great racecourse and beautiful weather was more than enough to get the team hooked on desert racing. The second race in Wendover with BORE proved to be assurance to the GB Racing team that we had found our spot in the racing scene by winning by a slim margin of 51 seconds. The 2001 season was a great year for getting our feet “wet” in the desert racing scene and we are expectantly waiting for the 2002 season to start off.
