RAMBUNCTIOUS

****NOTE**** The new custom headers on the truck now! Check out the new picture at the end of the article.

It was a typical friday evening in Lethbridge, Alberta. Cam Leacock and his buddies were sitting around the tv watching Monster Jam and having a few drinks. After watching the Tough Truck races, Cam figured it looked like fun. Since he is a liscenced mechanic, he figured he could build one without too much trouble. Seven years later, RAMbunctious is the fourth (and hopefully final!) race truck from C&C Racing.

RAMbunctious is owned and maintained by Cam Leacock and driven by Chris Gaumont, both from Lethbridge, AB. Cam started with a 1978 Dodge Ramcharger frame and mounted a stripped 1982 Dodge Ramcharger body to it. The rollcage is tied into the heavily gusseted frame. A BDS 5" supension kit was installed along with a 3" body. The truck handles amazingly well considering it is uses 8 NAPA Commericial Rider LTV shocks, not high performance aftermarket units. Cooper Discover STT's are the tire of choice; LT235/75R15 for the indoor shows and 31x10.50R15 for the outdoor shows.

The tires are bolted to a rear Dana 44 with posi and a braced Dana 60 with Warn hubs in the front. The driveshafts hook up to a stock New Process 203 that is mostly run in 4 high. The 727 automatic transmission has a 2000 stall torque convertor and a remote cooler.

The heart of RAMbunctious is the Larry Miller built 360 that was originally in the 78 Ramcharger. It features a set of Keith Black pistons, Crane cam, Eldebrock air gap aluminum intake, Holley 4 barrel carb, and major head work including valves, springs, seats and polishing. It is rated at approximatly 375 hp. Exhaust is a twin 2 1/2" side dumped staight pipe system that will be replaced with a set of custom built headers that will collect into a 3" and go straight through the hood. ****NOTE**** The new headers are on the truck now! Check out the picture at the bottom of the page. The battery, fuel cell and radiator (with electric cooling fans) are all remote mounted.

The interior has just the essentials. A Kirkley racing seat, harness, window net and some gauges. Nothing else is needed! The body features quick release doors, hood, front clip and rear spoiler and an awesome paint by Dwight's Place in Lethbridge.
